Mark moved to Wales in 1986 to work as an accountant for a small firm. After 3 years the choice of relocation with the firm or redundancy gave him the opportunity for a career change. His desire to take up woodturning full time led to his training with a professional turner. During this apprenticeship he took second prize for turning in the National Eisteddfod of Wales 1990; first prize went to his tutor!

Mark began by specialising in high quality turned decorative and functional bowls and individual vessels for various craft events around the country. Simple designs were used to bring out the natural beauty and variations in colour, texture and figuring of local timbers. In 1998 he was commissioned by the Foreign Office to produce work for visiting foreign dignitaries attending the Cardiff European Union Summit. In 2002 he was one of the main presenters at the Great Britain International Woodturning Seminar along side other turners from around the world.

Since then he has demonstrated at events in Europe and America. Whilst continuing with the demonstrating and teaching he now concentrates on producing one off pieces for galleries, exhibitions and to commission.

Mark has work at a number of galleries throughout the UK and the USA. He has participated in exhibitions at prominent galleries in Britain and abroad. As a result he has important pieces included in private collections all over the world.

He is a member of the Worcestershire Guild of Designer Craftsmen, the Association of Woodturners of Great Britain, the American Association of Woodturners and is on the Register of Professional Turners of the Worshipful Company of Turners.

Mark is now based near Pershore, Worcestershire and it is here that he runs courses with students coming from as far afield as America and Israel.
