One of only a few full time Professional Ornamental Turners in Europe. Paul is inspired by the work and writings of the 17th, 18th and 19th century Masters of Turnery such as Marcus Heiden and Johann Eisenberg of Coburg (c1630), Plumier, Bergeron and Holtzapffel. Not ‘slavishly’ copying them but adapting from their influence to fit new and varying tastes.On the Professional Register of The Worshipful Company of Turners of London since 1987 Paul is also a Freeman of that Company.
Mainly selling through private commissions in the U.K. but also in Europe and America. Paul is generally known for his Ornamental Gothic Style work but also for smaller delicate items and complex gaming pieces.
Over the last 15 years he has been awarded a number of turning medals from the Worshipful Company of Turners. Amongst these medals is the ‘Lady Gertrude Crawford’ Gold Medal and the ‘Twentyman’ Silver Medal for Ornamental pieces of outstanding quality. These Medals can only be awarded once to any individual.
